Love Delivered Through Candles: Sister Saveria Jung

Sister Saveria Jung grew up in a Catholic family and attended Catholic schools, naturally finding her path to becoming a nun.
She joined the Lay Association of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and it has now been nearly 50 years since she took her vows.
While she lived in the convent, she spent much of her time serving at local parishes, living closely with the faithful.

Among the many places she served, the small island parish of Yeonpyeong-do in the West Sea remains most vivid in her memory.
Located near North Korea, she once had to evacuate with the local residents when missiles were actually launched.
Even amid fear and danger, she stayed by the parishioners' side, comforting and praying with them through the crisis.

Sister Jung has a quiet and heartfelt hobby—she lovingly decorates candles and gives them to the parishioners.
Each candle is a gift of prayer, a hope that the light will accompany and inspire them during their moments of devotion.

My mother once received one of Sister Jung’s candles.
It was so beautiful that she kept it as a decoration in our home.
Every time she sees it, she says it reminds her of Sister Jung.

A candle made by Sister Jung for her beloved community—
May its light remain in our hearts, shining with love.

The Lay of Association of Charity of St.Vincent de Paul
