About Silver Stories
Silver Stories is about sharing the lives, art, and the elderly, whose stories too often go unheard. We’re here to remind both them and our society of the deep value they carry.
Mission Statement
Silver Stories is about sharing the lives, art, and the elderly, whose stories too often go unheard. We’re here to remind both them and our society of the deep value they carry.
Loneliness affects about 43% of elderly people over 60, and this rises to nearly 70% among women aged 75 and older. Roughly half of all elders feel “useless,” with these feelings especially prevalent among women.
Through creative projects and personal storytelling, we spotlight the beauty in their memories, the power in their words, and the art they’ve held inside for decades. This is more than a project; it is a mission to help elders recognize their worth, challenge ageism, and bring their stories to life. Silver Stories is a reminder that age does not limit one’s worth.
By encouraging creative expression, we provide these women with a renewed sense of value and purpose. We aim not only to better understand their experiences but also to appreciate the wisdom and lessons they carry. Ultimately, we seek to redefine their role in society, pushing beyond the limiting narrative of age and isolation, and celebrating the vibrant contributions of this often-overlooked demographic.

Who we are
Silver Stories is a youth-led, intergenerational storytelling community dedicated to honoring and preserving the voices, memories, and creativity of senior citizens. We believe that every elder holds a lifetime of wisdom, history, and artistry worth sharing.
By building genuine connections between young people and elders, we create spaces where stories are not only heard but celebrated, whether through conversation, art, music, or community events. Our members come from all over the world, united by a shared belief: that the past is a gift, and our role is to carry it forward.
What we do
At Silver Stories, we do more than just record life stories, we create an ever-growing, living archive of experiences, emotions, and art. Our work includes:
-
Digital Story Archive – Capturing elders’ memories through in-depth conversations, then preserving them as audio, video, or written narratives for future generations.
-
Music Sharing – Playing and listening to music together, exploring songs from their youth and introducing them to new sounds.
-
Art Galleries & Exhibitions – Curating public showcases of elders’ paintings, photographs, crafts, and collaborative works.
-
Art Project Collaborations – Working side-by-side on creative projects, from murals to handmade books.
-
Workshops & Classes – Teaching elders a wide range of skills—art, digital literacy, languages, writing, or any subject they’re curious about.
-
Book Corners – Hosting reading sessions and small book clubs where stories spark conversation and connection.
-
Memory Crafts – Creating scrapbooks, photo albums, or keepsakes that honor their personal histories.
-
Cultural Exchange Activities – Sharing traditions, recipes, and customs between generations and cultures.
Everything we do is centered on dignity, creativity, and connection, ensuring elders feel seen, heard, and valued. We always seek new initiatives to add to our growing services.
